Nextcloud turns a server into your own private cloud: file sync and share, calendar and contacts, an office suite and hundreds of apps — without a per-seat SaaS subscription or a hyperscaler reading your files. How much storage can a Nextcloud instance hold here?
On a single box, up to ~375 TB of raw disk. Beyond that — or from day one if you prefer — you attach a Storage Vault server as Nextcloud's primary or external storage over S3, and the library scales into the petabyte range while the app node stays on fast NVMe.
Can I use your storage servers as the Nextcloud backend?
Yes — that's the recommended pattern at scale. The Nextcloud app runs on an NVMe dedicated node for a snappy database and web UI, while the actual files live on an S3-compatible Storage Vault server. You get fast metadata and cheap, huge capacity at the same time.
Is the bandwidth really unmetered?
Yes. The port runs at its rated speed for a flat monthly price — no per-GB egress, no cap, no throttle. Sync terabytes, share large files publicly, run mobile photo backup for a whole team; the bill doesn't move.
How many users can it handle?
A Starter box comfortably serves a personal setup or a small team (~10 users). Production handles around 100 active users, and High-load with a Storage Vault backend scales to 500+ — company, school or community size.
