About Seedbox

A seedbox is a remote server that runs your torrent client around the clock, so downloading and seeding happen on a datacenter connection instead of your home line. What decides how good a seedbox is: port speed, whether traffic is metered, and the disk under hundreds of active torrents. Hostfory seedboxes are dedicated servers, so all three are yours alone.

Ports are unmetered and start at 1 Gbit/s, with 10 Gbit/s available on dedicated plans. The base server is a Xeon Gold 6138 with 64 GB ECC RAM and 2x 1 TB NVMe. For a library that outgrows NVMe, attach a [Vault storage server](/storage) with 72 TB and up of HDD capacity. Pick the location closest to your trackers and your viewers; Kyiv is our primary site.

The ready-made qBittorrent configurations, with Web UI and optional Plex or Jellyfin next to it, are on the [qBittorrent seedbox page](/apps/qbittorrent). If you need a larger port or a custom disk layout, start from [unmetered dedicated servers](/dedicated/unmetered) and tell us the workload.

Seeding private-tracker ratio, Linux ISOs and your own content are normal uses. Our [AUP](/aup) applies to every server, and we handle abuse reports under it.

Frequently asked questions

What is a seedbox?

A remote server that runs a torrent client 24/7 on a datacenter connection. You download to it and seed from it, then fetch files over HTTPS, SFTP or stream them with Plex or Jellyfin.

Is the traffic metered?

No. Ports are unmetered at the rated speed, 1 Gbit/s and up to 10 Gbit/s on dedicated plans, so seeding is not billed per GB.

Which torrent clients can I run?

qBittorrent is the ready-made option. You get a dedicated server, so you can also install Deluge or rTorrent. See the qBittorrent seedbox page for current configurations.

Can I run Plex or Jellyfin on the same server?

Yes. A common setup is qBittorrent downloading to local NVMe or a Vault storage server, with Plex or Jellyfin streaming from the same storage.

How much storage can I have?

Local NVMe on the server, plus Vault storage servers from 72 TB raw for large libraries. Send us your target size and we will propose a combination.

Which location should I choose?

Kyiv is our primary location. Amsterdam, Warsaw and Miami are also available. Pick the one closest to your trackers and viewers.

Is torrenting allowed?

Legal use is allowed: Linux distributions, your own content and private-tracker seeding. The acceptable use policy at /aup applies, and abuse reports are handled under it.

Can I pay for a larger port or custom hardware?

Yes. Ports above 1 Gbit/s and custom disk layouts are quoted from the unmetered dedicated servers page or through the contact form.
